Transportation/Delivery Supervisor/Director

 

This job is to manage delivery operations with 20+ drivers and the corresponding truck fleet. The overall responsibility is to ensure accurate delivery while at the same time creating revenue opportunities after customer deliveries are completed. The major duties and responsibilities are:

 To establish and achieve delivery performance measures including productivity, revenue and safetyRegularly communicates with customers to gauge customer satisfaction, answers customer questions quickly, following up on any issues or concernsFocuses on activities and needs of drivers to facilitate driver retentionResolves all problems of drivers from load/delivery to payroll issuesFacilitates the successful delivery of loads through effective dispatch activities by assigning runs, developing contingency plans and promotes customer serviceActively promotes safety programs throughout the terminal by conducting safety meetings, communicating safety program messages, completion of safety required testing, etc.Ensures that all drivers comply with DOT compliance regulationsInvolved in the recruitment and training of company driversWork closely with purchasing to obtain backhaul of goods from vendors.Seek out other trucking opportunities to increase trucking incomeWork with routing software to continually adjust truck routes to peak efficiencyCommunicate with customers and sales force of any delivery delays or problemsCommunicate with drivers to be sure their equipment is operating properly and they have all the tools they need to do their job.Follow-up on all equipment needs with our equipment vendors to be sure trucks & trailers are serviced and repaired properly and on time to keep equipment uptime at a maximumAudit driver logs and routing reports to be sure they are accurate and in compliance with all DOT regulations

 

Qualifications

5 to 7 years Experience in trucking, delivery and/or logistics issues

Direct experience in working with carriers

Strong software skills ? especially in creating reports in excel

Experience with truck routing software

CDL License

Ability to be flexible in workloads, job hours and workloads

Experience in working in a distribution environment would be greatly desired, but not a requirement

 

Education requirement

High School

Associate Degree or Specialized Training in Logistics

 

Salary

$38,000 to $50,000+ based upon experience and training
