Transportation Logistics Coordinator

Overview:
Under general supervisor authorize appropriate mode of transportation for vendor shipments to our distribution network.

Key Accountabilities:
Authorize mode of transportation based on volume, time constraints and economic feasibility for shipments over 2,000 lbs. Utilizing irregular route, contract and private fleets.
Procure domestic highway and intermodal equipment to meet FSG purchase order in store dates.
Issue alternative routing for shipments requiring special services, (i.e. temperature control and GOH equipment).
Control merchandise flow by screening purchase orders prior to forwarding for approval status and vendor compliance with ship/cancel dates.
Communicate the divisional receiving procedures and document preparation requirements to transportation service organizations..
Coordinate shipment receiving appointments with divisional distribution center personnel.
Authorize ezpenditure for carrier assessorial services.
Pre-audit transportation invoicing for correct mileage, rate applicaton and accessorial charges.
Calculate divisional less than truckload, and truckload cost comparison on volume shipments..
Provide allocation by department for volume shipments to freight payment office.
