Controller, Division

Republic Services, Inc, a leading  company in the solid waste management industry, has an opening for a Division Controller. Located in our Richmond, CA location, the position will be responsible for directing financial activities of the division by performing the following duties personally or through subordinates:

 Responsible for directing the accounting and statistical reporting functions forthe divisionMaintain the accounting function in accordance with GAAP and withincorporate policiesEnsure that financial controls and records are maintained in accordance withcompany policy and legal requirementsSupervision and training of accounting, data entry, collections, and expensefunction ensuring the promptness, accuracy and completeness in theperformance of all responsibilities, data and reportsProvide and review with the General Manager and other functional areas,financial reports, analyses and other information as requiredProvide support and assistance for the Division's Goals and Action PlansReview and approval of payroll, accounts payable, and account adjustmentsDetailed management and involvement in the collection processPreparation and review of supporting month-end entries, billing, accountreconciliation and month end statistical reports and resultsAssist the General Manager in preparation of monthly financial forecastCoordination and development of the annual budgetReview and reconciliation of monthly physical inventoriesProvide analytical support for Capital Expenditure RequestMust be able to develop a working knowledge of operations and to relate that knowledge to the financial results.

? Education and/or Experience ? Bachelor?s degrees(BA) in accounting or a business related field from a four year college or university: and two to five years related experience.  Waste or transportation industry experience preferred

? Language Skills ? Ability to read, analyze and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals and governmental regulations.  Ability to write reports, business correspondence and procedure manuals.  Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of manager, clients, customers and the general public

? Mathematical Skills ? Ability to work with mathematical concepts.

? Computer Skills ? To perform this job successfully, an individual should have strong working knowledge of Microsoft Excel Spreadsheet software and Microsoft Word Processing software.

? Other Skills and Abilities ? Working knowledge of PC based G/L and fixed assets systems
