We are offering a $1,500 sign on bonus to qualified candidates.
POSITION SUMMARY: Performs repairs and maintenance on heavy equipment to maximize safe and productive operations. Typical repairs include, but are not limited to, routine maintenance and repair of engines, chassis and body components, hydraulic cylinders, brake systems, suspension systems, wheels, and tires.
PRINCIPAL RESPONSIBILITIES:
? Diagnoses mechanical problems using charts, technical manuals and laptop.
? Performs repairs and maintenance on electric, diesel and gasoline trucks including front-end loader, roll off, and other district vehicles to maximize safe and productive operations. Typical repairs include, but are not limited to, routine maintenance and repair of engines, chassis and body components, hydraulic cylinders, brake systems, suspension systems, wheels, and tires.
? Overhauls gas or diesel engines, using hand tools, welding equipment, standard charts and hoists.
? Examines protective guards, loose bolts and specified safety devices on trucks, and makes adjustments, using handtools.
? Reads and interprets VCRs (vehicle condition reports) and/or repair orders, communicates with supervisor and/or driver for clarification of problems. May discuss preventive techniques with drivers to minimize future repairs.
? Completes paperwork associated with repairing vehicles, documenting parts usage, and accounting for applied times (i.e. work order times versus time card times).
? Makes emergency road calls to make repairs on trucks that break down while driving a collection route.
? May fabricate special lifting or towing attachments, hydraulic systems, shields, or other devices according to blueprints or schematic drawings.
? Performs other job-related duties as assigned.

? Ability to discern color sufficiently to interpret warning lights.
? Ability to lift up to 35 pounds, carry up to 50 pounds, and push/pull up to 50 pounds.
? Physical mobility to climb into and out of truck and clean up spills.
? Ability to fully and effectively use hand and power tools.
? Ability to tolerate confined spaces for extended periods of time.
EXPERIENCE, EDUCATION, CERTIFICATION:
Required:
? High school diploma or general education degree.
? 1 year of related heavy equipment maintenance.
? Valid drivers license required.
Preferred:
? Mechanical or trade school certificate preferred.
? Certificate in electronic diagnostics preferred.
? ASE certificate preferred
An equivalent combination of education, experience and certification may be considered.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, ABILITIES:
? Knowledge of electrical, power transmission, brake and other automotive systems.
? Knowledgeable of and capable of performing repairs in an efficient, effective and timely manner.
? Ability to safely drive the service truck to perform repairs.
? Ability to communicate effectively
? Ability to read, estimate, calculate, interpret, measure and document in writing.
? Knowledge of DOT, OSHA and other related health and safety standards.
Machines, Tools, Equipment and Software USED:
? Personal Protective Equipment including dust mask, earplugs, gloves, hard hat, respirator, safety glasses, work boots, and safety vest.
? Hand tools including hammer, pliers, screwdriver, wrenches and other various tools.
? Vehicles including D8 dozer, forklift, loader, skid loader and parts truck.
? Machines including jacks/stands, wire feed welder and other power tools.
ENVIRONMENTAL/ATMOSPHERIC WORKING CONDITIONS:
? Risks associated with working around machines, tools and heavy equipment.
? Exposure to chemicals, solvents, dust, fumes or other waste.Occasional exposure to extreme weather conditions.
